FAQS

  • I am a new client, how do I book in?
We would love to hear from you. Send us an email at info@themindclan.com.au or fill out our contact us form with your contact details and a brief enquiry. We will try our best to get back to you within 2-3 working days.
  • Do you offer after hours/weekend appointments?
We sure do! And the best part - we do not charge any additional fees for weekends or after hour appointments.
  • How long are the appointments?
Standard consultations are 50 minutes in length. Some treatments such as EMDR may require a longer appointment - in that case your therapist will discuss with you the fees for longer appointments
  • What ages do you offer psychology services to?
We cater to young adults aged 18 - 35.
  • Do I need a referral?
You do not require a referral to attend our practice. However, if you would like to claim the medicare rebate of $141.85 of your 50 minute consultation fee, then you will need to obtain a referral/mental health care plan from your GP or psychiatrist.
  • I am nervous about my first appointment, what can I expect?
Seeing a psychologist for the first time can be a daunting experience. This is a common feeling shared by many the first time they attend. The first appointment is often a “getting to know you” session. There will be some paperwork, and lots of chit chat to explore your current mental health symptoms and functioning, family background, school/work and social life, physical, medical and emotional health, as well as your reasons for seeking therapy, and your goals. Your psychologist will help you feel as comfortable as possible, we have herbal teas, blankets and long couch to lay on - just in case you require that extra layer of soothing!
  • I am an international student, can I still see a psychologist here?
Yes. We see many international students at The Mind Clan. Most overseas student health cover (OSHC) providers cover psychology appointments, however we suggest checking with your OSHC first and ask about the amount that they will cover.
  • Can I use private health insurance?
Yes. If you have private health insurance you may be eligible to claim rebates on psychology. Rebates available are dependent on your individual cover and we encourage you to call your health fund provider to determine how much they will cover. Please be aware you cannot use your private health insurance if you are already accessing Medicare rebates for your session. You can only access private health rebates once you have used you 10 medicare rebated sessions.
  • Do you provide psychological reports/letters?
If you require a psychological report for work, school, university or other purposes, we may be able to provide these at an additional cost and at the psychologists discretion. The psychologist will first discuss with you if what you are requesting is within their scope of practice. The fee for psychological reports depends on the length of time required to prepare and write the report as well as whether further assessments are required. If you would like to know our fees for reports, please ask for our schedule of fees.
  • What is your cancellation policy?
As session times are in high demand, we require at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. If we do not receive at least 24 hours notice of your cancellation then you will be charged the full 50 minute consultation fee. Late cancellations and no shows impact both clients who are waiting for sessions as well as the psychologist, therefore the late cancellation/no show fee will be incurred regardless of reason for cancellation (e.g., sickness, traffic, forgetting). If you are sick or too unwell to attend in person, you can request a telehealth session instead.
  • Is there parking available?
There tends to be lots of street parking around the building as well as a small private parking area which you are also welcome to park in.
  • I don't drive, are there public transport services nearby?
You are in luck! We are surrounded by lots of trams and bus stops. In fact, our rooms are located steps away from tram stops 26, 29, 27, 31, and 25.
